Save the environment with your every day beauty products.

Every one agrees that the environment is precious and important.

But how can we help?
We can make small, inexpensive changes to the products we use. Using products that don't have harmful ingredients. Using products from companies that take care of their employees. And using products that are ethical to make and test.

Body Wash & Soaps that are good for the environment and your body.

  • Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps has only 5 ingredients, and the first one is water. The way this company works helps use less resources, therefore helping the environment.
  • Nurture My Body Ginger Body Wash is another great body wash for your health and the environment. Contains no harmful ingredients, and this company treats their employees well.
  • Do not use CVS Clarifying Body Wash. This body wash contains the harmful ingredients Triclosan, an ingredient banned in beauty products in Canada, and Propylene Glycol with is linked with causing respiratory toxicity.

Shampoos that you should try.

  • Miessence Desert Flower Shampoo has only one ingredient of low concern, lime oil. I wouldn't worry about that though, because the amount of lime oil used as fragrance is monitored by the International Fragrance Association. Miessence products are safer on the environment to use.
  • Sea Chi Peppermint Shampoo is great for your body with no harmful ingredients at all. And it's okay for the environment too.
  • Avoid St. Ives Swiss Formula Papaya Plus. This shampoo contains many harmful ingredients. Coconut Diethanolamide, which is thought to cause cancer, Triethanolamine and Propylene Glycol, which both cause respiratory toxicity.

The right deodorant for the environment.

  • Miessence Organic Aroma-Free only has 4 ingredients, and they are all harmless to you and the environment. And it also works great.
  • Burt's Bees Herbal Deodorant is made up of only the purest and best ingredients, water, and various herb oils
  • Do not use Arm & Hammer Ultramax Victory Deodorant. It contains Propylene Glycol, an ingredient suspected of causes respiratory toxicity. It also contains Triclosan, which as mentioned above, is banned from cosmetics in Canada.

Products to protect you from the sun.

  • Try Kinesys Spf 30 Sun Protection Stick next time you are out in the sun. It does have a few questionable ingredients, but the amount of those ingredients is low enough not to harm your body or the environment. The company who creates this sunscreen is also committed to its local community.
  • Badger Spf 30 Unscented Natural Sunscreen is a wonderful product with no traces of any harmful ingredients in it. It's made using beeswax, rosemary extract and olive oil, giving it a smooth texture for ultimate protection.
  • Avoid using Banana Boat Sooth-A-Caine Aloe Gel with Lidocaine. It contains the harmful ingredient lidocaine, which is currently banned from use in Canada because it is suspected of causing kidney toxicity. The company who makes this product is known to use very few recyclable materials.

Research what you buy.

It is important to know what chemicals are in the products you use every day. Knowledge is power when it comes to protecting your health, and in preserving the environment.
